- Design and Consulting – Our design and consulting services guided the project from concept to completion, ensuring that every decision aligned with the site’s ecological goals and the homeowner’s vision.
Located along the shores of Lake Margrethe, this residential project transformed a failing, hardened shoreline into a thriving natural system that works with nature. The property’s aging wooden seawall had begun to deteriorate, contributing to erosion and habitat loss along the lake’s edge.
Inhabitect performed significant earthwork to remove the decaying structure and reshape the shoreline using a bioengineered approach. This included soft-armoring techniques, hybrid geotechnical methods, and native plantings that stabilize the bank, filter runoff, and create valuable habitat.
Just upland from the shoreline, we designed and installed flagstone pathways, rain gardens, and bioswales to manage stormwater and improve site hydrology. The entire landscape was planted with a diverse palette of native species to support pollinators, enhance biodiversity, add seasonal interest, and reduce long-term maintenance.
The result is a resilient and regenerative landscape that blends beauty, biodiversity, and stormwater function—supporting the health of Lake Margrethe while providing the homeowners with a peaceful and ecologically sound retreat.
Great team of people! Professional, courteous, highly competent, and friendly. Our natural shoreline design and installation went smoothly and we’re excited to enjoy it for years to come. – Client Review
